OSMO UV Protective Oil is a colourless, silky matt wood coating based on natural oils containing biocides for outdoor use. Microporous, it leaves the wood breathing and reduces cracking and swelling of the wood. Water-resistant, non-cracking, non-peeling, non-scaling. Easy to apply without sanding. Easily spreadable, does not dry when painted.

It is used as a final coat on pre-painted wood and thus significantly extends the interval between renovations. As a stand-alone coating in two coats, it significantly prevents greying of wood on vertical surfaces and has a UV protection factor of 12 compared to untreated wood.

Features

  • Based on natural oils.
  • Contains biocidal agents.
  • Protects against mould, algae and wood-boring fungi.
  • Repels water.
  • High yield.
  • No primer required.
  • Open pores, allows wood to breathe.
  • Does not splinter, crack or peel.

Use

  • For all vertical wooden surfaces in exterior areas: doors, windows and shutters (dimensionally accurate construction parts), carports, wooden facades, balconies, fences, pergolas, garden furniture and garden houses (dimensionally inaccurate construction parts).
  • Also suitable for bamboo poles (e.g. for view barriers and garden furniture).

Capacity

  • Approximately 18 m2/litre in one coat, depending on the type and water absorption of the wood.

Expert tip

  • The energy-rich UV radiation from the sun erodes the lignin in the wood, causing the wood to turn grey. Until now, only coatings with colour pigments could prevent this effect. With Osmo UV Protection Oil you now have the possibility to protect your wood invisibly. UV Protective Oil contains substances that slow down the greying effect by a factor of 12.
  • For reliable UV protection, the coating must be applied slightly thicker than other Osmo varnishes.
